Designed to fit together.
Full 3D modelling brings the parts, connections and assembly sequence together before cutting begins.

CUSTOM MANUFACTURING / AUCKLAND & THE GULF
Precision in every part.
Practical thinking at every scale.
From recreating an obsolete fitting to building a complete aluminium gangway, we bring digital modelling, CNC manufacture and practical fabrication together.

01 / WHAT WE DO
A replacement bush. A custom mould. An aluminium gangway or stainless assembly. The same attention to fit, function and manufacture at every scale.
Bring us the problem ↗Purpose-made parts to suit the application. From brackets and mounting plates to bushes, sleeves and bearing components.
An obsolete or damaged part can be the starting point. We assess the sample, recreate its geometry in CAD, and work through the fit and function required for a replacement.
Aluminium and stainless steel gangways, handrails, frames and custom assemblies. We develop fabrication details from the project design, using 3D modelling, CNC-cut components and fixture-based assembly to support accurate fit-up.
Develop a shape into a mould and a finished component. We work with patterns, mould making and custom carbon fibre parts for marine applications.
02 / SPECIALISED FABRICATION
Using CNC laser tube cutting and notching, we bring the same level of precision and efficiency to larger specialised components and assemblies.
From aluminium gangways and structural frames to stainless steel assemblies, accurately cut profiles, connection details and slot-and-tab features help parts fit together consistently, reduce manual preparation and streamline fabrication.

Full 3D modelling brings the parts, connections and assembly sequence together before cutting begins.
CNC laser cutting and tube notching produce connection profiles, slots and holes directly from the digital model, reducing manual marking and preparation.
Slot-and-tab features and purpose-made fixtures help locate components consistently and establish the geometry for welding.
Welded aluminium and stainless steel assemblies can be finished with panels, glazing, flooring and other components to suit the project.
03 / THE WAY WE WORK
You can start with a drawing, an existing component, or a conversation about what needs to work.
Tell us what needs to work, where it will be used, and the project scope. A photo, sample or drawing is a useful start.
Work through dimensions, materials, interfaces and manufacturing method. Agree the scope before making it.
Translate the agreed design into machined parts, fabricated assemblies or moulded components.
Check against the agreed requirements and coordinate delivery and site interfaces.
04 / MATERIALS
Material choice starts with the job: load, movement, exposure, weight, and how the part needs to fit.
For custom brackets, plates, machined parts and fabricated structures. Grade and section selection are matched to the application.

05 / MARINE COMPONENT LAB
Marine Component Lab brings design, reverse engineering and custom manufacture together. Our scope spans the discontinued fitting, the custom component, and the complete fabricated assembly — all shaped around how they need to work.
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, we work with aluminium, stainless steel, engineering plastics and composites, with site access and project support available across the Hauraki Gulf.
06 / HAURAKI GULF PROJECT SUPPORT
We can arrange site visits, measurements and project support for island and waterfront locations across the Hauraki Gulf.
Understand the location, take measurements and work through the interfaces before fabrication.
Site access and support are assessed for each project, subject to weather and site conditions.
Larger components and assemblies require separately arranged barge transport and suitable lifting operators.
07 / YOUR NEXT PROJECT
Talk directly with Josh about what you need made. Call to discuss your idea, or email your photos, drawings and project details.

A FEW PRACTICAL QUESTIONS
Yes. An existing part, a sketch, photographs or a description can start the discussion. We’ll establish what measurements and design information are needed.
That is part of our focus. Feasibility depends on the condition of the sample, the application, the material and the requirements of the replacement.
Yes. We can discuss aluminium and stainless steel structures, gangways, handrails, frames and complete assemblies. Fabrication details, engineering responsibilities, delivery and site interfaces are agreed for each project.
We can arrange visits, measurements and project support for island and waterfront locations. Access depends on the site, weather and the scope of work. Larger deliveries are separately arranged with suitable transport and lifting operators.
Yes. Custom one-off parts are central to Marine Component Lab. Tell us the quantity and intended use so the manufacturing approach can be assessed.
